March’s Commercial Security: Thought You Couldn’t Afford An Alarm System For Your Business? Well, Guess Again!

Every business, no matter how small, needs some type of security. Even on a tight budget, you as a business owner need to have a security system installed. Here are some systems that are affordable to most any small business owner.

An unmonitored system has an exceptionally loud horn or siren that goes off both inside and out when triggered. It can also be rigged to set off flood lights that burn steady or flash drawing more attention to your business. This type of alarm generally scares the burglar off but without being monitored, unless you are close by, you need to have someone who can notify you it has been triggered.

A monitored alarm system- when the alarm is triggered, the monitoring station contacts both you and the local police. The one drawback to this type of system is that if the outside phone line is cut, your business can be broken into and damage done, but a cellular backup system can be added to cover this threat.

A wireless alarm system is easy to purchase and install. It generally includes cameras, motion detectors and sensors along with an alarm and flashing lights. Easy to operate and inexpensive, it is ideal for a starter system. But wireless can sometimes glitch or malfunction, so it’s not as consistent and effective as a hard-wired alarm system.

Exterior alarms- placed on the outside of your building, they usually include motion detection lights and a very loud alarm. They are triggered when motion in a certain direction is detected.
